As you might have guessed from the course name, I first came into contact with webdesign during Webdesign. This was one of my first lectures starting my Bachelor in 2015 at the HU. The job; create a website!
Creating a fictional website
As a newbie in the designing field, I was thrown into the big boy pool immediately at the start of the Bachelor by having to create a concept and design for a fictional website. Honestly, at the time I had no idea what to do so after panicking for what felt like days, I decided to make a design a webpage for the 100th year anniversary of the ‘Wandel vierdaagse’.
What is the ‘vierdaagse’?
For the non-dutchies reading this blog I will now explain a little bit more about the ‘vierdaagse’. We Dutchies love the nature. We are one of the biggest cycling countries in the world. But we also love to swim, run, walk and other outdoor activities. Luckily for us, everything is flat. This means easier routes for both running, walking and cycling.
We love walking so much that we dedicate a week for walking. Nearly all little towns and villages organize a ‘vierdaagse’ every year. During this week, you will walk every evening for four days. You can choose your distance. And in the end, you will receive a medal for your participation.
We also do it for swimming, but that is another story.
Looking back
Looking back at this project now (2020) I feel a little ashamed by the quality of the work, but I am also really proud on the progress I made. Because I made mistakes during these first few projects, I know have an (in my opinion really good looking) website.
